Brush, Brush, Brush Your Teeth

Today we had a wonderful visit from two local dentists, Dr. Ladd Ellis and Dr. Mitch King! They came in and taught us how to brush our teeth, floss, and when to go to the dentists. They also showed us what happens if we DON'T take care of our teeth!
YUCK!

Thank you Dr. Ellis and Dr. King for teaching us so many wonderful things.

We wrote thank you notes to Dr. Ellis and Dr. King for their wonderful presentation!

A fun song your child can sing as they brush...

(Sung to "Row, Row, Row Your Boat")
Brush, brush, brush your teeth
Till they're clean and white.
Brush them, brush them,
Brush them, brush them,
Morning, noon and night.

Snow Day!

As the kiddos are in art, I have been reflecting on what a wonderful day we have had. We began our day catching snow and writing about how it feels, smells, and what we see in the snow. I think it was the kids favorite writing by far.
We then worked hard all day long on addition, editing our writing (we are working on spacing this week), and on remembering characters, settings, and events of a story. Tomorrow is another fun filled day, as it is Valentine's Day!
An example of our editing...students went back and reviewed their work. Students went back and put in red lines where they forgot to put spaces. Hopefully this will remind them to put their space in whenever they write! :)

America The Beautiful

We spent the week learning about America and the symbols of our great Nation. We learned so much about the White House, the Statue of Liberty, and the bald eagle just to name a few. The students learned the reasons behind the colors of the flag, how to show our respect, and to honor the United States flag as we say the Pledge of Allegiance every day.
We also learned the song "You're a Grand Old Flag" in our poetry study this week. Students look for sight words, punctuation, and vocabulary words that we are studying within the poem/song. The poem is then carried over into centers.

Math was spent learning the skill of addition... This week we learned facts through 5, next week we will focus on facts through 10.
